It was unusually cold for March, especially in the mountainous regions of western and northern Slovenia. At weather station Kredarica (2514 m) below the peak of Triglav, the lowest daily temperature was -28.1 °C, while the highest was -23.9 °C. A record March minimum temperature was registered at stations Dom na Komni at 1520 m (-24.1 °C) and Vojsko near Idrija at 1070 m (-20.0 °C).

It was snowing heavily in the majority of Slovenia. The next morning, the observer at weather station Koprivna in Koroška region measured 70 cm, on Vogel 60 cm, in Kotlje near Ravne na Koroškem 57 cm, in Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu 49 cm, in Prigorica near Ribnica 47 cm, in Celje 40 cm and in Ljubljana 32 cm of fresh snow.
