Description of GAFOR
General aviation forecast (GAFOR) is prepared by aeronautical meteorological forecasters performing operational Meteorological Watch Office duties. GAFOR forecast is prepared in the form of a bulletin as well as in a graphical format. Forecast shows estimated average cloud base/visibility conditions for VFR flights along the entire plotted route. MWO issues GAFOR five times per day, every three hours starting from 02 UTC during legal summer time and from 05 UTC during legal winter time. Validity period of individual forecast is 6 hours. Each symbol (O, D, M or X) represents estimated cloud base/visibility conditions in consecutive 2 hour time window. GAFOR forecasts are issued at:
